This was a memorial was commissioned by a dear friend who had recently lost her father. She gave me photos of him from multiple stages of his life with the hope that I could create a pose which captured him as most would remember and recognize him, which happened to be somewhere between the ages in all of the photos. It was quite a challenge but the client assured me that I had achieved just the look she was hoping for.
About James Andrews
James Andrews is an artist and teacher who has been living in the Pacific Northwest since 1999. Andrews work is best described as Narrative Surrealism. While he is skilled in classical figure drawing with graphite and color pencil, the bulk of his professional work is in painting. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1973, Andrews' family moved out to Long Island's beautiful East End when he was a toddler. The skies, waters and other scenic features of the beloved Hamptons area, which he will always refer to as “home” populate many of his paintings. Andrews has always had a love of art and the stories it can tell. This love led him to pursue and earn a BFA in Theatrical Design from the State University of New York at New Paltz and,...
